FolderTrack is actually two programs: The user interface and a service. The service records all the changes. So even if the user interface is shut down, FolderTrack is still working.

Version control tools usually require you to manually check-in your changes, plus they require a lot of set up and administration. You tell FolderTrack what to track and you are done period. FolderTrack is not a replacement for VC or backup software it is more of a compliment. It can be used to find changes that other tools would miss.
FolderTrack has many tools that can be used to help you easily find whatever you want. You can save descriptions of your versions or group changes under a common name. Also you can easily find past versions according to when they were created, what was change, the type of change that occurred, and more. As long as you know something about the change you should be able to find it.
That depends on the size of the files you are tracking in relation to the size of your hard drive. Under most circumstances FolderTrack will not cause a hard drive space issue. To save hard drive users can delete their folder history and filter files that do not need to be tracked.
Yes. FolderTrack works with almost any program that saves files to a computer. Some software performs incorrectly when its files are modified by other programs. Therefore it is important to test that FolderTrack works with whatever program you want to use it with
